I got to spend the first part of my spring break out of town again. Actually, out of the whole state. My brother and sister-in-law had the idea to rent a cabin in Oklahoma and spend a weekend just drinking and sitting around a bonfire. And what a great idea it was!
Eight of us split the cost of the rental, we all bought groceries and alcohol, and headed out Friday morning, on the 10th of March. It was only about a two-hour drive, and our cabin was located right outside of Turner Falls. Man, was it pretty. Jonathan and I drove with my sister-in-law. It was a short little road trip, but it was still fun.
The area was so pretty, smelt fresh, and it was so secluded. Jonathan and I walked around a bit, took some pictures, and he skipped a couple rocks.
That night we all drank, sat around the fire and talked, before deciding it was time to play hide-and-seek. In the dark. In a field. While drunk, buzzed, tipsy, what have you. It only lasted about ten minutes before half of us got confused on what to do, and the other half gave up. So, we locked my brother outside, and turned out all the lights. Which, of course, led to him trying to scare us by making loud noises, shouting, banging, and eventually crying out like he had got hurt. Even Jonathan disappeared for a while, going out the front door and climbing the stairs to the balcony. That was a scary sight, seeing him looking down at us with just one light on underneath him.
Then we played some trivia games and all hit the hay around 11PM or midnight. The next day went much the same way, besides a trip into town to buy some groceries. Some of us went on a hike for about an hour, and Jonathan went into Eagle Scout mode. Which resulted in his leg getting cut up by brambles. That night we just played some more games.
Sunday, we left. All packed and ready to go by 10AM, we hit the road and were home by noon.
It was a fun trip. Jonathan and I have had two little vacations so far this year, and I’m hoping we can do something special for our anniversary in November. I’m thinking an Airbnb in Austin…
Anyway, it was nice to get away again, just us and friends. A real adult vacation. Because adult means getting drunk with friends and playing hide-and-seek in the dark, haha!
